After finding her son huddled next to their family dog one morning, one mother puts a nanny camera to discover how it all happened- She captured the sweetest nighttime routine ever!
Friendship knows no species. However, spending time with the best-of-the-best when it comes to friendship- dogs- is a true blessing!
Apart from all the fun, raising a baby together with a puppy in the house is highly beneficial for the health of the child, it boosts hers/his emotional intelligence, compassion, and cognitive skills, and reduces aggression, and anxiety in the newborn.
These funny furry companions provide children with a sense of security. Having all this in mind, one mother-to-be from Richmond, Virginia, adopted a 2-year-old Boxer from a local shelter. Paige Knudtson grew up with boxers and knew that these dogs can be very gentle with kids. Brutus, her dog, loves cuddling and attention, and she says he is like a large teddy bear.
When she was 20 weeks pregnant with her son, Finn, an anatomy scan revealed that her baby had a serious heart anomaly. Right after his birth, Finn had to undergo multiple procedures until he could have an open-heart surgery. His mother, who’s an emergency room nurse, explained that the boy wouldn’t have survived in case they hadn’t discovered the anomaly during the pregnancy.
After seven weeks, and a few complications, Paige and her son could finally go home. Then, the exact moment the pup and the baby met, they connected. Paige claims that their dog senses that the boy needed extra attention and love, so ever since, he is always by his side. The two best friends enjoy all their time together, they nap, watch TV together, eat together, and play outside!
“Brutus often curls up wherever Finn is sitting and follows him from room to room in our house. If Finn is sick, Brutus knows it and just stays right by Finn’s side or lays his head on Finn’s chest.”
the mother said.
Whenever he is outside, Brutus keeps scratching at the door to Finn’s room or pacing outside to be let inside and be with his favorite human being again. They are so close, that they even hate not being together at night! When Finn was a small baby, Brutus protectively slept on the rug in front of the crib. Yet, when the boy moved to his toddler bed, the dog started crawling up and sleeping with him every night!
As Paige explained, when Finn started climbing out of his bed and sleeping on the floor, Brutus followed suit- and started sleeping next to him there!
Hilarious! They have moved Brutus’ bed into Finn’s room, and Finn would rather sleep in the dog bed than staying in his own bed. The first time the mother saw her son huddled next to Brutus, she put a nanny camera to see how it happened. Then, she captured the sweetest nighttime routine ever!
In the video, Finn settles in with Brutus for 5 minutes, while the dog remains completely calm. When Brutus sleeps on the floor, Finn grabs his blanket and climbs out of bed, to be next to his canine best friend. The dog seems to not mind being Finn’s pillow at all!
Paige claims she is very happy that the two bonded this well, and she loves watching them growing up together.
“Finn sleeps with Brutus all night, every night. Whether it’s in the dog bed, Finn’s bed, or the floor — the two always sleep together.”
